Find your next step

Get personalised advice and build your confidence

You don't need to have your future worked out before asking for support.

Whether you're exploring different options, feeling uncertain about your next step, or finding it difficult to put yourself forward, Launchpad can help.

From independent reflection to personalised coaching and practical confidence-building workshops, there are different ways to get the support you need.

Start flexibly

Take stock of your strengths

Sometimes the best place to begin is by recognising what you already bring and where you might want to develop.

King's Skills for the Future is a short self-assessment that helps you reflect on 30 valuable skills, understand your current strengths and identify areas you'd like to develop.

The assessment takes around 30 minutes and earns 2 points. There are no right or wrong answers, and you can repeat it later to reflect on your progress and earn another 2 points.

You can complete it independently, whenever works for you.

Talk it through

Plan your next move with a career coach

Sometimes it helps to talk things through with someone who can offer a fresh perspective.

Launchpad offers dedicated 45-minute one-to-one career coaching sessions, giving you time to explore your situation and work out what to do next.

Your coach can help you:

  • Explore different career options and what might suit you.
  • Make sense of your priorities, interests and strengths.
  • Work through uncertainty or barriers to taking action.
  • Identify practical steps towards your career goals.

You'll leave with personalised guidance and a clear, achievable action plan.

You don't need a career plan or a particular problem to bring to the conversation. Coaching can be useful wherever you are in thinking about your future.

Dedicated appointments are available for final-year students and eligible recent graduates, with places released throughout the year.

Put your confidence into practice

Show Up: confidence, your way

Confidence starts with understanding yourself. What matters to you? What are your strengths? How do you communicate your ideas, build connections and make decisions about your future?

Show Up offers practical, supportive sessions to help you get to know yourself, develop confidence and connect with others in ways that feel authentic to you. You'll explore your strengths, interests and values through guided activities and reflection, building approaches you can use in different situations.

Through exercises and activities, you'll explore how to:

  • Recognise and articulate your strengths and achievements.
  • Talk about your experience with greater confidence.
  • Advocate for yourself in professional situations.
  • Make connections and put yourself forward for opportunities.

Whether you're preparing for professional conversations, meeting new people or learning to give yourself credit for what you've achieved, Show Up offers space to practise.
