At King’s, we believe that knowledge should serve society and that ideas should lead to action. From the beginning of your journey with us, you will be encouraged to bring your own perspective, work with others and explore how you can contribute to the communities around you.
The Sustainable Communities Digital Hackathon is a short, high-energy online experience designed exclusively for applicants joining selected King’s online programmes. It is your chance to connect with like-minded people from around the world and explore one of today’s biggest questions:
What does a sustainable community really look like?
Working in small, international teams, you will explore different local environments—including your own—and use them as a starting point for fresh and meaningful conversations about sustainability.
Through collaboration, creativity and shared perspectives, you will consider how communities function, grow and adapt, and begin to rethink what makes them inclusive, resilient and sustainable.
Guided by King’s facilitators, you will take part in a fast-paced digital sprint that reflects the way we learn at King’s: collaboratively, globally and through engagement with real-world challenges.
What you’ll gain
By taking part, you will have the opportunity to:
• connect with other new King’s students from around the world;
• experience collaborative online learning before your programme begins;
• explore sustainability through different cultural and local perspectives;
• develop your confidence in sharing ideas and working as part of an international team;
• strengthen your creative thinking, communication and problem-solving skills; and
• consider how your ideas and knowledge can contribute to society.
You do not need any previous knowledge of sustainability or experience of hackathons to take part. Bring your ideas, your perspective and your curiosity...
