Develop practical teaching skills, build your confidence working with learners from different backgrounds, and explore opportunities to use TESOL in the UK and internationally.
TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) can open up opportunities to work and volunteer around the world, helping you connect with new cultures and communities. Closer to home, TESOL skills can also enable you to support displaced people and those living in fragile or uncertain circumstances.
Alongside teaching skills, the course will help you develop transferable skills including communication, intercultural competence, adaptability and confidence.
What will I learn?
- This introductory, practical course will introduce you to a range of approaches for supporting learners with:
- English reading, writing, listening and speaking
- Teaching grammar and vocabulary
- Classroom management
- Teaching both in-person and online
You will have plenty of opportunities to practise these techniques in a relaxed and supportive environment.
At the end of the course, you will have the option to volunteer with the King’s Sanctuary Programme to support learners through the Empower ESOL initiative. You will also receive guidance on other volunteering and paid opportunities within the TESOL field.
