Wellbeing & Student Support

Balancing Student Life at University

Online
Booking with capacity

Starting university can be exciting, but it may also involve new routines, responsibilities, relationships and pressures. Whilst you are here to study the subject you love it’s important to create a balanced approach so that you can continue to enjoy the other activities that are important to you. Taking time to understand what supports your wellbeing can help you feel more confident as you begin this next stage.

This interactive session will introduce you to King’s whole-university approach to student mental health and wellbeing, and the different areas that can influence how you balance student life at university. Through practical activities and guided reflection, you will consider the habits, relationships, environments and sources of support that can help you feel well and thrive.

You will have an opportunity to think about what wellbeing means to you and we will support you to identify activities to maintain balance during your academic studies, helping you to enjoy your university experience to the fullest.

The session is not about expecting you to have everything worked out before university begins. Instead, it will give you space to explore realistic ways of looking after yourself, hear perspectives from other new and current students and become more familiar with the support available at King’s.

What you’ll gain

By taking part, you will have the opportunity to:

• reflect on what supports your mental, physical and social wellbeing;

• explore practical strategies for managing new routines and responsibilities;

• identify habits that could help you feel more balanced and connected;

• build confidence in recognising when you may need additional support;

• discover wellbeing services and sources of support available at King’s; and

• meet other students who are also preparing to begin university.

This is not a clinical or counselling session, and you will not be asked to share anything personal that you would prefer to keep private. Come ready to reflect, take part and gather ideas that may support you throughout your time at King’s!
